9 Modern Indian Goddesses

We are in the midst of the Indian festival of “Navratri”, where the Goddess is celebrated in all her forms. The word ‘Nav’ means nine and ‘Ratri’ means night, hence ‘Navratri’ means nine nights of celebration. During this time nine forms of the goddess are worshiped.
This is that time of the year when the days are filled with auspiciousness and the evenings are full of music, colours and traditional dance forms like Garba & Dandiya!

While experiencing the hustle and bustle of the city at this time I came across idols of the goddess at every street corner, but along with that, every step of the way I also encountered a new modern day goddess.

Here are a few of her forms in modern day India. Look at her shine in all her glory –

1. The Independent Goddess

A hard working little girl earning her living

She is confident. She is strong. She can face anything that comes along. She needs no man to lend her a shoulder to cry on and she won’t let anyone treat her loved ones like a pawn.
She fights for justice and also provides warmth and care. Her partner will be blessed as her passion, fortune and love she will share. See if you can spot her in schools and colleges, in offices and banks or maybe just take a look within, right inside you she might have been. Go on, applaud her success coz she is the Modern Indian Independent Goddess.

2. The Unadorned Goddess

She will put a smile on her face and inspire you with her stories. And you will wonder how the world is still blind to her glories. See if you can spot her in a rice field, or in a corporate tower, or even on a construction site or just take a look within, right inside you she might have been.
